Why Study Theology?
In short, because everyone is a theologian! That is, everyone who has thoughts or ideas about who God is—and what He is like—is already assuming some theology. Literally, theology is speech about God (theos—God; logia—speech or discourse). The only question is whether or not that speech is good and true.
Moreover, what we think about God informs how we live before God. And if we if we are to live lives holy and pleasing to God, we must begin with thinking rightly about Him. As we do, our heart’s affections for Him will grow, leading to greater love and worship.
